10k on the 10th

For the last couple races Nancy held, I wasn't up to the required mileage, so I was super excited to hear about 10k on the 1oth. Unfortunately, I didn't have a primordial pacer on hand, but in honor of the bachelorette party I'm throwing for my friend tonight, I did manage to find Michael the Cowboy, a stripper! 

This was my first run since Monday and I had planned 11 miles for today, so if it's okay I'm just going to count the first 10k for the virtual race. 

Despite Cowboy's pacing, this was not my best day of running. Lack of sleep all week and being a bit dehydrated from a few drinks last night made my heart race on hills, though I'd like to blame my rapidly beating heart on cowboy's hotness! I had a couple of good miles in the middle, when Cowboy ran in front of me and taunted me to catch him (he said I'd be rewarded!).

It's a gorgeous, sunny, blue day today so I was appreciative of being out running around! I did have some things to sort out in my head and  having Cowboy and my club with me was really helpful.

In the end, I only made it 10.4 mi. I have a route that is about 8.5 mi and I keep using it and assuming I'll add more onto the end, but honestly downtown Ann Arbor isn't huge and I get pretty sick of running in circles around downtown trying to add mileage. It's boring, and all I can think about is how I'm only a couple blocks from home but I need to get in 2 more miles! Here are the rest of the splits:

What happened to my 8:40 average pace from 2 weeks ago? Hopefully it will come back when I'm more well-rested.

Anyway, I went to the grocery store to pick up some random items last night, and gatorade was on sale at 16 bottles for $9. I looked at my cart at one point and all that was in it was gatorade, cheez-its, toilet paper, and beer. I realized I've turned into a bachelor!

I then headed over to the toiletries section and picked up a nail file and body wash, so I think I get my woman-card back (I should have grabbed some tampons too). Besides, I hung out with a stripper all morning! :)
